On today’s show I am talking to Dennyse Harris, CEO and Founder of uBlossom Retreats and Events. Her mission is to create a safe space for women to come together to build relationships, grow, and rejuvenate their mind, body, and spirit. Dennyse joins us today to discuss what her business is and why she created uBlossom.

In 2016, Dennyse founded uBlossom as a way for women to get away, but still be close to home. Included in each retreat are 7 to 8 workshops revolving around mind, body, and spirit that women can choose from without being locked into a set schedule. It’s about going with the flow and self-creating.

When her daughter was 3 years old, she was diagnosed with leukemia. She battled it for 3 years while Dennyse nursed her. After the struggle of her daughter’s illness, Dennyse felt as though she had lost her identity and the retreat she went on changed her life. She knew it was something she had to do for other women.

uBlossom puts on 2 retreats a year and they require a lot of logistics. Dennyse utilizes her travel industry background and event planning skills to the put retreats into motion, months, even up to a year in advance. With COVID-19, she has pivoted from putting on 2 large events a year to 4 small ones. The smaller events have focused on more outside workshops, mandatory masking, and social distancing to create a safe environment.

The silver lining has been seeing the power and connection of smaller groups. The relationships are even stronger and uBlossom teams continue to evolve and grow. Dennyse has also been able to put more time and energy into fostering the uBlossom online community.

We also hear Dennyse discuss what tasks she delegates in her business and how she carves out time for her own self-care.
